Recovery One Month Today

What a roller coaster ride this has been!  Bruce has persisted in seeking the Lord and His Truth in this season.  It may be the most difficult thing he has had to deal with yet in his life.  Though the medical report has been a cause for praise, his emotions have spoken otherwise.  We were not prepared for them — overwhelming anxiety and depression — even though they do make sense given the physical circumstances.  I have been likening this to a woman having her ovaries removed.  What a tremendous biochemical change!!  We attended a support group for men and spouses dealing with prostate cancer last week called Us Too.  It was for Bruce a mixed package.  But he did make the effort to go.  There will be another one for men only next  week.  Please pray that he will find the energy and the courage to go again.  There is so much more to this than the obvious.

We have just come through a two-day “Camp Meeting” in which we each experienced some refreshing.  God is soooo faithful — Praise You, LORD!!  And while we were there last night, the LORD was also working in Arizona.  Jill and David with Judah and Mace had a harrowing experience when their tire blew on the interstate with trucks barrelling by .. and the car slipping on the sandy berm,  the car perilously sliding then falling onto the open wheel. David had removed the tire, then gone to get the spare when it began to move with the children inside.  The ultimate position trapped the spare and bent their jack.  With road assistance and a state trooper aiding them, they were finally back on the road with intentions of purchasing two new tires today, though the one that blew had been in good condition!  God IS faithful!!

Thank you all once again for holding us in prayer.  It has made all the difference!!! We have much need!!!  The enemy can come in like a flood – in such things as whiplash, bugs (ants and no-see-ums), racoons, broken plumbing, and burst tires.  But our God is faithful to meet our every need .. we KNOW this .. and we can see Him working!!!

Recovery Day 14

Two weeks post-surgery:  We are experiencing what it means to move two steps forward and one step back.  Recovery is definitely a zig-zag path!  Bruce and I together are on a journey of hope that has some signposts that read “stop and rest awhile” and others that encourage “take a leap of faith!”  He had a productive appointment with his surgeon last Thursday and felt very encouraged afterwards.  But some days are still better than others.  Today was one of those “others.”  Your continued prayers are coveted!  We both need an added measure of strength and stamina to “leap” the next hurdle.  Thank you, our dear friends and family, for your love.
